About the Department: The Department of English was started in the year -2016. The B A English course began in the year 2017. The main objective of the department is to enhance the English competency of the students, especially the first generation learners with regard to spoken and written communication skills. The Department follows the syllabus offered by the University of Madras which includes subjects like Indian Writing in English, British Literature, Background to European Literature, Communicative English, Academic Writing, American Literature, Postcolonial Literature, Literatures from the Margin and so on. The ultlmate aim of the department is to produce graduates with good communication skills and make them employable as per the demands of the current employment scenario.
Mission of the Department : To enable students to achieve academic excellence and acquire a taste for literature and other related fields through learner centric teaching methods.
To equip students with communication skills and other professional skills to meet the global standards.
